No light, No road despite the present of all federal govt. Departments
A close up with Former Vice chairman Ipokia Local govt. Ogun state, Hon. Joel Bankole whose effort durin his administration (OGD) cannot be overemphasized due to his immense support to serve and contribute towards the development of his community.
The incumbent MD/chairman Shallom Hotel stressed further on how he was able to use his political influence to facilitate street lights, transformers, tarr roads and other infrastructures which makes him relevant in the heart of the people of Idiroko and entire Ipokia L.G.as at today.
He spoke bitterly about the current situation and menace combating Idiroko and the nation as a whole especially in the areas of Light and unemployment.
"As far as Idiroko , Ipokia is concern, it is nothing to write home about because it is even a social compounded issue the nation not only this local government is facing on light issue .we are not having light and Idiroko as a cosmopolitan area , we must be comparing it with Lagos or Abuja because we have the presence of all federal government departments talk about the police, customs, NDLEA, NIG. port, health and quarantine service, even Nigeria army all federal government departments are presence here yet no development.
Even if you say you want to do censor today every state in Nigeria is represented in Idiroko because here we have dwellers from everywhere.
With the inflows of people from neighbouring countries is an ECOWAS road sharing borders with government of Benin, cotonou etc. Idiroko is an image maker but no light, no road even our problem is been compounded with the federal government policy that 25km to the border all filling station must not sell fuel. We don't have light we are on generator, the petrol to power light is not even available, our business dying, we don't know what to do and federal government is generating alot of money from customs In idiroko.
Idiroko been a town that federal government is making such income. They suppose to put back some of the money back to this community but we are not enjoying it.
We hereby appeal that they kindly come to our aid cos we are here suffering in silence.
Also there should be slot for indegenes for employment into customs,DSS, Immigration et Al we should be given our fair share slot but to our dismay we not enjoying anything. Government is not encouraging us and we will be more useful in this departments.
As an indigene if am a custom officer, I know how to curb smuggling because I must be able to know thier movement, how they move in this community but somebody come from another place, he will just come here . The more he look the less he sees cos he won't see anything so government should encourage us, and try consider us when doing employment".--HON. BANKOLE JOEL(AGBAAKIN OF IPOKIALAND
